久々に千夜千冊を読んでた。

千夜千冊っていうのは松岡正剛の頭の中だ。

書物とは違う、ブログとも違う。知のネットワークというのだろうか？

千夜千冊に出会ったのはイシス編集学校だった。

社会人になって、資格の勉強をしていた時に行き詰まったとき。

そんな時、友人が誘ってくれたのがイシス編集学校だった。

資格の勉強もあるし、どうしようかなと悩みながらも解放されたい気持ちもあり、イシス編集学校の門を叩いた。

イシスのプログラムは

基本は、守破離から始まる。

守は、編集や見立ての型を学ぶ。

破では、型の意味や構造を見る。

離では、編集的な見方そのものが自分になるようなプログラムだ。

私自身は破までしか突破してないのだけども。。

離までいくモチベはまだなかった。

しかしイシスは普段の試験勉強とは全く違う知の教室に連れて行ってくれた。

私がしていた座学というのは常に受験や、資格取得を目的にしていた。何かを得るための勉強だった。

イシスには目的がない、正解がない。役に立つかも分からない。でもなぜか面白い。

そんな不思議な知のネットワーク空間だった。

一般的な学びだと

教科が分かれていたり、◯◯学と、全て区切りが設けられている。その隙間の関係性を考えることはない。知識を得るだけで、その知識は孤立している。

イシスはバラバラになったものの関係性を見いだす。

人と人との間、本と本の間、思想と思想の間、文化と文化の間。またそれを飛び越え、全てのものの「あいだ」を見て繋いでいく。

だから知識が増えているわけではないのに、見方そのものが変わってくる。

世界を多方面から眺めれることによって、固定化されてた世界から解放される。

その解放体験は行き詰まった資格脳の私にとって心地良い解放感だった。

人間が作り上げたこの社会で、役に立つことを前提にした時点で何かを失っている気がした。

○×クイズに行き詰まりを感じるのは、何かを得てるようで、得ていない喪失感だったんだな。

私は、何かを得るために学びたいんじゃなくて、世界の見え方を変えたいんだろう。

そんなこと言いながらも、離のカリキュラムに怯え、進まなかった私だけど

久々に千夜千冊にアクセスして、その訳分からなさに頭を抱え

イシスの友達にラインしたら

層で読むんだよ、松岡正剛を理解したくなったんか？離、だな。

と言われました。笑

ここ1、2年くらいずっとモヤモヤしてんだよね。

そんなこんなしてたら、松岡正剛も亡くなってしまったんだよな。。

しかし、一つだけ確信があるのは

見えてないものを見たい。

それだけは確かに残っている。

離に行くのか、千夜千冊を読み直すのか、はたまた別のところにいくのか。

正直まだ分からない。

でも見えてないものは見たい。

さぁ、どうする？困ったもんだな笑

A while ago, I found myself returning to Senya Sen-satsu ("A Thousand Nights, A Thousand Books").

To me, Senya Sen-satsu is the mind of Seigow Matsuoka made visible.

It is neither a book nor a blog. Perhaps the best way to describe it is as a network of knowledge.

I first encountered it through the ISIS Editing School.

At the time, I was a working professional studying for certification exams, and I had reached a point where I felt completely stuck. A friend invited me to join the ISIS Editing School. I hesitated. I already had enough on my plate with exam preparation. Yet part of me longed for something different—for a sense of liberation. Eventually, I decided to take that step.

The ISIS program is built around the Japanese concept of Shu-Ha-Ri.

Shu is about learning the forms and methods of editing and discernment.

Ha is about breaking through those forms and understanding the structures and meanings beneath them.

Ri is the stage where the editorial way of seeing becomes part of who you are.

Personally, I only made it through Ha. I never reached Ri. At the time, I simply did not have the motivation to go that far.

Yet ISIS opened the door to an entirely different world of learning.

The education I had known was always tied to examinations, credentials, and measurable outcomes. Learning was something you did to gain something.

ISIS was different.

There was no clear objective.

No correct answer.

No guarantee that anything would be useful.

And yet it was endlessly fascinating.

It felt like entering a strange and beautiful network of knowledge.

In conventional education, disciplines are divided into separate fields. Everything is categorized and compartmentalized. We rarely think about the relationships that exist between those categories. Knowledge is acquired, but it often remains isolated.

ISIS, on the other hand, seeks out connections.

Connections between people.

Between books.

Between ideas.

Between cultures.

And then it goes further, leaping across boundaries to explore the spaces in between.

As a result, it is not merely that you know more. Your way of seeing itself begins to change.

When you can view the world from multiple perspectives, you become less confined by fixed assumptions and rigid frameworks.

For someone like me, whose thinking had become trapped within the logic of examinations and qualifications, that experience felt liberating.

At some point, I began to suspect that when learning is valued only for its practical usefulness within society, something important is lost.

The frustration I felt with endless right-or-wrong questions was not simply intellectual exhaustion. It was the strange feeling of losing something while appearing to gain something.

I realized that I did not want to learn merely to acquire knowledge.

I wanted to change the way I see the world.

And yet, despite saying all of this, I was intimidated by the Ri curriculum and never moved forward.

Recently, I revisited Senya Sen-satsu. Once again, I found myself overwhelmed by its bewildering complexity.

So I messaged a friend from ISIS.

His reply was simple:

“You have to read it in layers.

Are you trying to understand Seigow Matsuoka?

That sounds like Ri.”

I've been carrying a vague sense of uncertainty for the last year or two.

And while I was wrestling with these questions, Matsuoka passed away.

Still, there is one thing I know for certain.
